Roawenwood: Design & Craft

When I was making up the package for the Gorean Grid Wide Hunt I wanted to add a little bit of everything so people could find something to use.  Most of the time when people do grid hunts there is a common complaint.  That it is geared towards women and most of the time clothes.  In the case of Gorean type stuff a common complaint that I heard was that there was an overabundance of silks or slave type things.  Granted that is probably true.  I added a little bit of this and a little bit of that.  A fountain type thing for the garden, a couple seating furs for panthers/whoever, a bookshelf that was done a little bit nicer for homes and then of course…. a camisk.  Aha!  Couldn’t help myself.  Anyhow….

It was called the Naughty Bits Camisk.  Reason being is I cropped it up real high on the hips, and then opened up the front along with the back so that there was really hardly anything there.  Sweeping widely across the breasts exposing the nipples and then a real low cut down the front past the belly button type of thing.  Mmmhmmm, a wee bit naughty eh?  Well I got some awesome feedback on it during the hunt, anyone who missed it can still get it but now its just being offered like any other camisk in my place.  At 150L it really isn’t a bad price so don’t feel too badly.

However as a twist as I was drifting off trying to think of new things to do I thought to myself… “oohh, that’d make one cute sexy ass kirtle too!”  Sooooooooo after the hunt I went up to my workshop, piddled round in my paint program to get a texture for the skirts and then made one.  Sitting low on the hips with ropes and fabric, and I added a couple sleeves to give it a wee bit of a rugged look.  It turned out real nice I think and the great thing is, of course, that the top can be worn by itself as the camisk if you wanted something a little different!  I put it down in the clothing section and the new area at the landing point for now for 225L.  Enjoy!

The new store build was finally complete and with trepidition I finished up, moving the last final things like the greeter, and the contest boards down to the ground.  Drawing in a quavering breath trying to still the butterflies in my belly I sent out the first notices about the new look and re-opening of Roawenwood.

Whenever I redo the store I’m a little nervous, this time I put a lot more effort into the build and I was trying really hard to create more than just another store.  Something that was fun to wander, interesting to look at, as well as a decent place to shop.  Wanted ya’ll to be able to find things without going too crazy too.  I think I accomplished it and like for the most part how it turned out.

Lots and LOTS of new.  I released the Gunnhild Kirtle/Camisk set in my clothing lines.  The great thing about this set is that the top can be worn alone as a sexy little camisk, rope belt wrapped around the hips or you can add one of three skirt options to have a softly flowing kirtle perfect for any northern bondsmaid.  It’s available in 6 colors, from steel, blood red, rose, moss, cornflower, and lilac.  I really liked how it turned out and have had some awesome feedback already from it.  Through the weekend the kirtle set will be 50% off on the new group discount board that is near the landing point!

Also released some distressed and worn slave furniture great for kennel or dungeon or wherever you want to have something with a bit more of a rough look.  Three pieces, a grooming/relaxing mat… a slave shower… and a grooming table.  The grooming table has two animations built into it, one where the girl brushes her hair while kneeling in tower in front of the mirror, the other is just a kneeling pose… role play out putting on your make up that is scattered across the top of the table.  The slave shower has a kneeling pose where the girl bathes beneath the water that comes down from the faucet.  Water turns on and off with touch, can either face the shower or face outwards.

The kennel mat is a little bit nicer even though it only weighs in at 5 prims.  Frayed rug with some beat up pillows there is 4 sets of animations.  The first is two girls, one kneeling in front of the other while her hair is being brushed and they sit talking.  The other three poses can be used singly or with a friend, they are all relaxing type poses so you have a place to curl up or kick back.

Now on top of the releases, the new store build and everything else there has been lots goin on at the store.  The lucky tribe stuff is sooooooo great!  I see lots having a blast with it.  I’ve also added a prize pyramid to the landing area.  Along with all of that I just added TWO Midnight Madness boards.  One with a set of silks that isn’t available in the store anywhere else, and one with a piece from the gardening section.  Ok so I’ve been feeling generous.  You guys ALL benefit from that!  The newbie gift for folks under 30 days has been put back out too.

What else….. hmmmmm……… *scratches her head*  oohh!!  Grid hunts!  hahaha the Gorean grid hunt is finishing up.  Tomorrow is the LAST day to get that freebie!  I may put the camisk up with the clothing but if you hurry you can get it for free.

The SL Discovery hunt will be going until the end of June, AND on the 25th another hunt starts!  Through the Looking Glass Grid Hunt starts and guess what… mhmmmm I’m in it so a new freebie!  Just have to find the little mirror with the cheshire cat peeking out on the glass.

Egads what a pain in the backside.  Soooooo much to say, and soooooooo much has happened!

I was told about a german blog that highlighted the hunt gift that I made for the SL Discovery hunt.

And then I found quite by accident by clicking through profiles another blog that highlighted a couple things from my place too.  Bound by Silk blog has a wee little post about the kirtle I just released and the camisk I made for the Gorean hunt that ends tomorrow.  Looks like a new blog, I wish the author the best of luck!!

As far as updates!  Woot!! The new store is complete and opened up!!  Will write a new post just for that in a lil bit.

I haven’t sat down to write anything for a lil bit.  The horror… the tragedy of it all.  *heaves an overly dramatic sigh.*

Ok, I’m done.

Anyhow… I’ve been doing a -whole- lot behind the scenes that you may not have seen yet.  The new store location is finally finally getting closer to being done, I’m moving product and getting it all set up.  It’s a bit different than my previous build.  Different buildings and feel.  I have put a lot more work into the way it looks, hopefully it won’t be too difficult to navigate.  Things are set up to be categorized somewhat… clothing in one area, furniture type stuff in another, work related and so on.  Landscaping, trees and all of that intermixed with the rest in a pleasing atmosphere so you can almost feel like you strolling through someplace and not just a store.

Thank you so much for all the positive feedback I’ve been getting on the hunt items!!  I keep getting nice little notes from people that appreciate the freebies in the grid hunts I have been a part of.  I’m very glad that everyone is enjoying the offerings.

I have a whole lot coming up.  With the opening of the new store build I’m going to have a special 50% board for groupies with items from around the store knocked down to 50% off!!  I tossed around the idea of closing the open enrollment aspect of the group but decided against it.  It’s hard enough trying to manage groups, and if you want to take advantage of a sale you should be able to.  It’s like in real life, yanno all of those stupid cards you need to have for different grocery stores, drug stores, etc… if you don’t have the card you are S.O.L. on their sale.  Well I didn’t wanna do that to everyone so I’m leaving it open enrollment.  Take advantage of my sales when they come up.

New outfit coming out!  New furniture!  New stuff for your kennels!  New chores!  New Store!  Coming soon!!

Whew!  I need a vacation.  lol

It’s the weekend!! And with that lovely piece of news there’s been a lot going on at the store!  The Gorean Grid Wide Hunt kicks off today and my lil heart with a dagger through it isn’t that hard to find.  It’s near the landing point just take a peek up and you should see it without too many problems.  It has a few things in there, I couldn’t decide what to place… along with the fact that I was -trying- to have a little bit of everything so most can find a use for it.

A sexy little camisk is one of the included freebies in there which won’t be put out for sale till after the hunt is over with… can get a free copy now if you like and feel like dropping by.

The Lucky Tribe event through the Lucky Chair Company is supposed to be kicking off today around noon SL.  They’re being secretive about it but it sounds like it could be a lot of fun.  You play games and go round the grid to participating stores to earn kudos points.  As you earn points you can redeem them for prizes at stores that are in the event.  Both of the lucky chairs placed out at my store can earn kudos points.  A twist on the grid wide hunt idea with some added fun and challenges! I added a new little chore… a harvest bag.  Nothing too awful major really but a little accessory that you can use for role play or whatever.

Dance Pit Upgrade Offer: When I created the Desert Opulence Dance Pit I included a texture change option.  The script that was used for it worked alright but on a reset could end up wiping the thing clean so you couldn’t do  the texture change anymore.  This really isn’t a good thing… you are paying for that functionality and it shouldn’t get broken that easily.  I have since had the script redone and now it won’t.  Safe from resets and safe from lil LL or SL snafus unless they change something.

In this vein I am offering a FREE upgrade to the latest version of the dance pit.  Anyone that has this dance pit is welcome to send it in a folder along with a notecard with the name of the person to send the upgraded dance pit to and I’ll replace it free of charge.  Rename the folder to something like Dance Pit Upgrade Request.
