So! Last night instead of working I went to see Godsmack and Staind. So either I title the post, “it’s been awhile…” since whatever to be witty or…. “I’m doin the best I can…” and finish it up with the “now go away” line. *snickers* Awesome show, very solid… and if you’re into screaming women one of the opening acts was named Halestorm and the lead singer has an amazing voice. She can sing, honest to god actually sing in this generation of lip syncers as well as belt it out screaming. They did real good live, I was rather impressed… haven’t heard any of their stuff prior to that.

I know, it’s been a hellishly crazy few weeks/months for me with fairs, expos and all sorts but it is all worth it. The SL Home and Garden Expo is just about to kick off in a few days. The proceeds of course benefit RFL, something that I hold close to my heart for various reasons.

Ya’ll going to have to come visit my spot! I have new items exclusive to the expo as well as some builds I haven’t really tried before. Even…. even an actual building type building or two. *gasp, wheeze* it’s been a challenge for me to build a little bit outside of my comfort zone but I think overall it is going to turn out ok.

Have a good one and more updates coming soon!

I’ve been dropping hints about this and sort of dangling it out there…. so here’s further teasing for ya’ll.

Remember around Christmas when I did the 12 days group event? Well in February I had planned on doing the 7 sins as a group event… a week long set of things going on just for in world group members leading up to Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday however I got swamped and as things so happened… I didn’t get to.

I’ve been holding onto the idea waiting, aching, wanting to do it but never quite sure when I’d like to… well guess what?! Perfect timing I must say but a hunt is coming up that is using the 7 sins for a week! Oooohhhh, says I…. perfect!

So this June during the week of June 10th – the 17th at the same time as the 30L Seven Deadly Sins hunt I’m going to do my group event. A week long hunt… a week of stuff…. like I did for the 12 days I’ll have a new sin every day of the week and hopefully a quirky little something to make your life interesting. This will be an adult group event…. items being geared towards my adult section @ Splinter’d.

I was playing around and thought this turned out rather nicely. A rigged mesh camisk type with ruffled flowing line along the body and high on the thigh. I kept the texturing denim like so it looks a little distressed but really it doesn’t at the same time. Perfect really… nice little lacy part around the middle softens it so you can wear it working or not… and it teases just a wee bit without showing a whole lot if you don’t want to.

Pair it up with jeans or something and it looks pretty good that way too.

This is one of those things where I wouldn’t know what to start with if I was going to tell you about the updates. I’ve put out new furniture for petites, and big avs. I have new clothes for both male and female petites… hunts…. sales…. it feels like I can’t pick what to highlight!

I guess I’ll start with a couple things. I was challenged!! A certain someone wanted to be a little god. *laughs* Wanted to have a trident to poke the big folk in the toe in when they stepped on him as a petite avatar. So of course I laughingly said… “omg I could so make that, and and and if I was being really cute I could add the walking staff AO so you could walk around like a little Titan!” Of course then we started tossing ideas back and forth… within a short period of time the latest in petite wear at Roawenwood was born. The Titan series. A roman type looking outfit in 5 colors (white, black, purple, blue and red) all with gold trimming. A trident with an AO so you can puff out your chest appropriately or stab those big avs for not looking where they are going! I also shrunk down a pair of sandals I had put together agessssssssss ago…. four color sets for that and they just go soooooo perfectly with this outfit. It’s just a lot of fun.

I’m going to release a female companion outfit to this as well on some level but since men seem to have such a hard time finding decent things to wear I didn’t want to wait!

Last week I did release the Faylinn Petite Fae outfit, it was in a limited sale over the weekend up now is a part of the main store inventory… so it isn’t like I didn’t do anything for the ladies. I’ve also done up furniture… a sweet suitcase bed set with a ton of lovin, cuddlin stuff…. and a vanity for the petite who likes to primp.

The furniture for normal avs was a very nice set and is on sale at the landing if you’re curious but I’m feeling impatient today in my writing. *snickers*

I have tons tons tons going on. New hunts started around the 1st and 5th. The Summer Meltdown hunt which is between two spots, find a prize here and a prize there… landmarks are in the hunt prims of course… then on the first the Fairy Path hunt started… which has a lil outfit for petites and a landscaping set for everyone so no one is left out. There also is the Fun 5 hunt that is part of the Prim Perfect 5 year anniversary celebration. A wrought iron patio set is the prize for that since the general theme was a garden party. Very nice set… chairs, table, and some goodies for the table. It will be part of the outdoor section once the hunt is over with.

On the 12th the Macabre hunt: Dead in Wonderland starts and a new CoLab is coming out soon… I’m hoping to get something in for that, though running a little behind for that particular deadline.

Towards the end of this month is the Home and Garden Expo! *breathes in trying to fit everything and not pass out from the exertion* A HUGE event with something like 14 sims or more with all sorts of designers participating, even a breedables fair. It benefits RFL and lil ole me decided to stake a rather large claim on one of the sims where I am hoping to create an immersive display or showcase of some of my work. I will be releasing at least 2 new items that are not available in the store for it and their proceeds during the fair will go directly to RFL. I am going to also participate in their hunt I believe. So you see I’m busy…. like always but yanno.

That’s the events just going on right now…. not even counting the massive bits I am going to be doing for June! The Silk Road hunt is coming then, a hunt for petite avatars, and an anniversary celebration for the Cookie Jar… and a hunt involving the 7 sins which I am so going to capitalize on…. I have plans for EXTRA stuff at my store just for groupies during it.

After all of that? I’m probably going to collapse into a heap after all the fairs and events that have been going on since March. *laughs*

Have a good one!!

I’m writing because I had a few thoughts that I thought I would express about fantasy fair, bear with me because I have a tendency to become wordy.

I wanted to convey that this year I believe you all outdid yourselves in the planning, execution, presentation of and spirit that I associate with Relay for Life. For the past 6 years I have been involved in RFL within my real life, helping where I can, supporting and doing what I can. Every year I walk… usually all night long until the morning hours when they do the ceremonies to close the event. Relay for me has become synonymous with community, support, love, and watching people work together towards a purpose. I have lost people to cancer, had a few scares, and seen people recover from it. When I found out years ago that RFL was within Second Life it was too late to join that year but the next I jumped at the opportunity. I involved myself and did a fair or two only to be disheartened after the event turned into a bunch of back biting undermining attempts at one group to discredit, sabotage or take away their authority rather than working together. I tried to make myself feel better with the thought that in the end RFL benefited and maybe the next year it would be better. The next few attempts for me to be involved needless to say were rather unpleasant. Shoddy workmanship, shoddy looking or half assed looking event venues, last minute thrown together events, lack of coordination, egos getting in the way and some of the worst parts being merchants/vendors becoming so obsessed with their placement, lack of sales, not giving items for donation… sometimes seeing the very worst of what I associate with online and how people treat each other coming to fruition all in the name of a cause I held dear to me. Each year becoming more disenchanted and withdrawing.

I had heard about Fantasy Fair, I had not been. I did not think I ‘fit’ in so I avoided it somewhat as a merchant. Last year I decided to try to get into it nearly at the cutoff point barely making it in probably never really knowing when sign ups started figuring I’d give it a try. At this point I didn’t expect much, generally expecting what I saw elsewhere… set up my spot, and watched. Listened. It is my nature to do so. I was rather impressed with the spirit I saw. I decided to do a jail and bail. Didn’t expect to do much, didn’t know if anyone really knew me or not… knowing really that being ‘known’ for that sort of thing generally helps bring in money. Didn’t do too bad, listened to Zander on the radio stream once or twice I think… watched some more. I didn’t wander that much but I felt pretty good at the close of the fair. I had seen a lot more positives, and was hopefully optimistic.

This year I decided I wanted to take a bigger part. Got a spot, donated something for the auction… ran a little behind and scurried to try to come up with some things that I felt were decent. I wandered more and became involved more, though I didn’t dare do something like a jail and bail. I spent time drumming, flying around as my petite self, watched a rather interesting wedding, and saw a fallen god face first in a kiddie pool, giants, dragons, genies, tinies, petites, you name it… I went to some events, listened to the radio stream, felt welcomed and stood entranced.

The first time I went from one sim to the other I held my breath as each unfolded. The scenery… the care taken… creating immersive and astounding environments where we could house our wares for a very temporary weeklong event. I can be a very meticulous builder and I’ll be honest it is difficult to impress me sometimes. I can pick apart a build easily, I can do a lot and I was very honestly blown away. Seeing them excited me to be a part of it… As the fair continues to unfold there were moments that I will always treasure. The exhibit with the paper boats that Khyle Sion did, reading the artists statement, being involved and sharing a paper boat… had me in tears. I was able to share that with someone very dear to me who had lost a family member due to cancer less than two years ago and know that it meant a lot to them as well. The outpouring from various people in the community, the camaraderie, the goofy parts, the fun parts, the awe inspiring and mundane… All of them combining to create a magical atmosphere.

You guys really pulled it off. I am honored that I was able to be able to be a part of this year’s fair and to be able to contribute in any way…. I sincerely look forward to next year finding myself very much moved as well as quite sad that it was only a week long. That the beauty created feels so fleeting not wanting to retreat back into work or the mundane and the ‘real world’ nasty parts of SL that always seem to weigh a person down.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of Fantasy Fair… I hope that next year I can be even more involved, get to know folks a bit better and help spread a little bit of magic of my own.

I logged in this morning to a group message from the Fantasy Faire group and in it there was a challenge… a little heads up about something that gave me pause within the fair. There’s a place called Refined Wild that creator Khyle Sion showcases some really awesome statues and sculpted items. I love this place and have purchased a few things from it before.

As part of the fair Khyle has created an interactive display where you purchase a paper boat, add your own graphic to the sail and then they place it on a pond within their store.

Some instructions and things from the NC — Believe me there’s more in the NC explaining the idea behind the little boats.

~Refined Wild~ Relay For Life ~ 2012 ~ Khyle Sion’s Artistic Statement

Tiny paper boats
In a tiny paper sea
Under a shining paper moon
Is quite the sight to see
With their tiny paper sails
Riding little paper tides
And the tiny paper fishes nibble
As the paper night wind sighs

The gentle flicker
Gleam and glow
Upon a paper wave
Each tiny part
A paper heart
Of those we long to save
To love
To lift above
This tiny paper sea
Reflecting the paper heavens

Oh, what a sight, indeed…

- K. S.

:: ——- :: Featuring Motion Art by Meth Federal :: ——- ::

“Paper Boats in a Paper Sea” is a piece of interactive art created for the ~Refined Wild~ booth specifically for the 2012 Fantasy Faire.

It is an audience participation piece: In order for this artwork to reach its full potential, the audience must participate in building the piece itself.

In order to build “Paper Boats in a Paper Sea”, the audience must donate to the vendors to receive their participation item: A paper boat. There are two types of paper boat: A classical paper boat, and a paper boat with a candle.

The package you receive after you donate not only includes your chosen paper boat in all 3 colors as Souvenir Mod/Copy versions, it also includes ONE Mod/TRANS version of the boat, and a Notecard with a list of Instructions.

The Instructions will guide you through modifying a Paper Boat Texture (linked to you in the Instructions) to put on your Mod/Trans paper boat.

In customizing the texture, you are able to PERSONALIZE your paper boat with a MESSAGE.

In reading the NC there’s the sentiment that we don’t often slow down with all the chaos and that this display is meant to create an outlet to stop, slow down and listen for a few moments.

I made my boat….

To add your message or to see this project go to ~Refined Wild~ on Nu Orne at the Fantasy Faire.

I know I haven’t been saying much again. This past weekend on the 21st Fantasy Faire opened. Nine sims, 8 of them full of some of the best creators on the grid all for RFL. Sincerely the work, the dedication, the spirit surrounding it… all phenomenal and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. Every year I relay in real life on a team, and in Second Life I try to do my part as well getting involved.

From Saturday April 21 to Sunday April 29, 2012, thousands of Second Life residents and creators will come together to support the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world without cancer. Nine Second Life sims will be transformed into the Fairelands, a fantasy continent created to host Fantasy Faire 2012, to benefit Relay for Life of Second Life (RFL of SL).

Fantasy Faire 2012 is the largest gathering of fantasy designers, enthusiasts, roleplayers and performers in the virtual world. Nine days of shopping, live music concerts, auctions, hunts and roleplaying to benefit Relay for Life and the fight against cancer. Avatars, clothing, furnishings, gadgets, goodies and exclusive items are available from more than 130 of SL’s top Fantasy Creators, spread across nine stunning sims designed by some of the visionary artists behind many of the hottest spots on the SL destination guide.

Fantasy Faire 2012 will be open to the public April 21 -29 and accessible from the American Cancer Society sim. We welcome you to come and join the story.

When you can’t be with us in person you can follow our progress, listen to interviews and special shopping spots on Fantasy Faire Radio : http://fantasyfaire.serverroom.us:5896

See what happens when we aren't actually working?!

This past week I have been able to be a part of some very interesting moments…. one being a band! The Jungle Bungles traveling from sim to sim playing a set of steel drums with a group of people following along. Led by the Capt. Alia Boroque in ferret form, a few tinies, petites, and even dragons it was a lot of fun until we end up at the Fairlands Junction playing during a belly dance type event. I loved it.

I don’t often get to relax, socialize or be around other folks… we builders tend to be a rather reclusive sort at times. Stepping out and doing something like this can be rare but I am really glad that I stepped out. We raised over 30k Linden for RFL during the couple hour event and had fun while doing it. I’m sorry but there’s just something really funny about a group of tiny avatars playing the drums. *snickers*

Fantasy Fair has also been having a hunt that my place is a part of. Purchase a hud, search out keys and books… get prizes then at the end you get another prize from the library. One of the great things about this too is getting to explore each and every sim. They’re really stunning. Everyone outdid themselves this year.

Along with my spot which is on the Shadows Claw sim I also have donated an item as a part of the silent auction. The item is a limited edition bed that I am not going to be reselling as part of my lines. It’s really quite pretty… with tons of cuddles, and accessories.

If fantasy is your thing or just having something a little different then you should check it out. More info is available upon request or you can go to the Fairlands Junction and check out all of the different items up for auction.

I’ve met some great people, had some awesome moments and we’ve raised a lot of money to help the fight against cancer. I think this years event is the best one yet.

You HAVE to go.

This past week while wandering I fairly stepped on the cutest little thing. Literally. Have you seen them floating around SL? Petite avatars. They’re 1/3 the size of a normal avatar. These little things can quite literally sit on a normal avatars shoulder. So far I’ve run into a few creators making things for them…. Caverna Obscura has their own line called Minikins I believe and then if you travel to Yabasuka you will find one, and Fallen Gods has quite a few including some male petites.

I was enchanted and snatched up two different ones already…. sadly, well perhaps not so sadly but still… I will probably get a few more too. I love these little things… they’re so much fun and with the different styles being created from draco types, to fairies, to little elves, demons there could be so much fun playing around with them. Of course I got myself some outfits, hair, and began wandering around in my new avatar. I found without too many problems a few places… without meaning to I laughed my way across the grid trying out different things, not getting my work done, completely wasting my time imagination flying with the possibilities of what could be done, found, had, created.

I have to admit and tell you that I have been struggling with my creative feelings lately. It feels like sometimes that all we do is recreate what has already been done, and I know that is what happens A LOT in everything. One improves upon or finds new ways to do things and really honestly…. so is this. It is a variant, a different type of thing but really mostly done before right? Maybe. But I haven’t… and honestly I have been having so much fun with the idea of what I could play around with that I have already jumped in to make up some fun new product to add to my store.

I have this quirky love for creating things for people. To see what they do or come up with when they have it, to create immersive atmospheres or accessories so people can plunge in and have fun wherever it is that they are. To challenge myself. It gets me excited, sparkly eyed and makes me grin. It isn’t all about the Lindens or cash for me… never has been, even though I work hard for it and the problem lately was feeling rather uninspired. I had been noticing a rather dark outlook creeping in sometimes that made me uncomfortable. In a way, these little guys have pulled me out of that too, or at least started to.

I have ideas flooding in… and while perhaps this is something of a fad, I would like to think that a subculture could be created perhaps… and I want to be a part of it. I already got myself into the Petites group, and have a few fun things for people with lots more coming up I think. I think one of the great things about these avs is that because they are rigged mesh the movement of the av works much better. Small avs were in the past often limited because if you couldn’t find the right animations or something it just wouldn’t work. There’s a lot more flexibility for creators as well as people wearing them because of how they move with the avatars skeleton. At least I have found this to be true so far for myself. It is another reason I am so excited with the prospect. Limitations have been lessened when it comes to creating for them.

I’m not going to forget the rest of my store either, I always have lots of ideas or things going on because I can’t just work in one area. If I do then I burn out or become stagnant feeling. Working in different things keeps me fresh and moving forward.

Here’s the latest…. a set of silks modified to fit the smaller av, with its own accessories and a set of boots. Don’t like to always be barefoot do we?

The silks come in a few different colors and the Golden set pictured is in the Lucky Chair!!

Hope you enjoy and keep checking back…. I WILL be making up fun role play sets or furniture along with clothing. I EVEN want to make clothes for MALE petites a little bit… that is so rare it isn’t even funny.

Have a great weekend and talk to you soon!

Way back when I first first first started puttering around with clothes I had a set that has been pretty much retired for awhile now. Recently someone sent me a nc asking me if I still had them, pleading because they couldn’t find them anymore and wanted them. I was surprised really. Had thought they were forgotten so I put them on and looked at them tilting my head from one side to the other going… “hmm, these aren’t half bad I wonder what I’d do with them if I played around a little.” SO!! The silks that were once called Suadela have been revived and redone. They look a bit different though using the same fabrics that I had used ages ago and some of the other elements. Includes: Skirts, belly bands, sculpted wrap top, armbands and earrings have been added. Release of 5 colors for sale: Red, Violet, Purple, Salmon and Burnt

Ok, as if ALL of THAT wasn’t enough. There is NEW NEW NEW lucky chair and mini mania prizes to be had!

I haven’t decided if I am going to put these for sale, but I have whipped together two OTHER colors for the Suadela silks and placed them in the Lucky Chairs!

·!¦[· SIMPLY THE BEST WEEKLY SALE ON THE UPDATED LOVERS ARCH ·]¦!·

Another item, another update. This one majorly because it needed it to an extent (scripts), but I also added MORE animations into it to make it even BETTER! The rose arbor is a long favorite… the Lovers Rose Arbor is an awesome way to have a lovely garden space for two to spend some time together.

21 different couples animations sets including Slow Dances, a couple faster couples dances, and an array of kissing, cuddly, loving sets. There are 4 different rose colors available, from the traditional deep red, to a more Gothic darker look.

·!¦[· UP & COMING STORE HAPPENINS ·]¦!·

So… now only what’s going on in general around the store. It’s the END of the month! Means you have about a week to sign up for the monthly drawing of 2000L store credit and 2000L prize.

*cries!!!* Twisted Hunt is going to be coming to a close. Mini hunt, souvenirs and all the like are going to be swept clean soon. The Medieval Hunt, STEAM and Cookie Jar hunts will also be finishing up on the 31st.

BUT!! On the first we have some newness…. The Black Egg cracks open a week for a 30L style hunt, prizes are to be a bit better quality, kind of like a shopping circle of merchants.

So what else…… I’m not sure actually. I know I have tons coming up with faires and things over the next coming months. Hope ya’ll are having a great week, talk to you soon!
