Brand new face for Splinter’d

Store Happenins No Comments »

I have been reworking the store and doing a lot of maintence type stuff that has been making me a little crazy.  In general this has made it tough to put out new things but since I’m making things better than ever which will free up more of my time to do even bigger and better stuff.

You know one thing about large stores, it always feels like you’re trying to figure out what works for the layout.  I think people are getting kind of lost right now.  It’s not a bad build, though I think it will work better with some moving around.  Splinter’d though looks a whole lot cleaner, and better.  Easier to wander and find things.  I think it turned out really great and I didn’t even really have a plan going into it except it needed something.  I started with a building, modified it and voila…. you have what is there now.  I actually am quite pleased with it, and surprised that it turned out half way decent to be honest.

In celebration I am having a sale!!  See while I rebuilt it I ALSO put things into vendors.  I have hesitated doing this for YEARS partly because of the lag that vendors can cause.  These shouldn’t be too much of a problem and I get to have MORE fun with ya’ll because of what the vendor system lets me do.

One of the many benefits is gift card system, being able to send as a gift, and now a customer rewards program.  When you spend cash, you can earn to get some back.  I think that’s awesome.  A little extra bit of fun and it just tends to give the warm fuzzies when you get to come back, get a little extra something because you’ve earned it.

Now through or until Halloween everything in vendors over on the Splinter’d sim is discounted 25%.  I even have a couple new things out too.

So now that Splinter’d is getting settled in better I’ll be fluttering around the main sim and the landscaping sim getting them settled.  While I’m at it I’ll be migrating things into vendors.  This way the customer rewards and extras can go for those areas too.  I hope you are having a great week and I’ll write again soon.

Egads!

A month and a half without updates.  Geez.  I’ve done lots of updates, things have come and gone.  Sadly I’ve just been so overwhelmed with different things that my focus just wasn’t there to get this updated.

I swear, honest… Girl Scout promise and all that I’ll do this up better again.

(( fun side note that is a bit scary… yes I really was in the Girl Scouts growing up for awhile.  LOL ))

It’s here!!!!!!!!!

Ok, maybe you didn’t hear me….

IT’S HERE, IT’S HERE!  *bounces around in circles eyes shining before collecting herself, clears her throat fluffs her hair a few times then settling upon one of the perches around the landing before jumping back up with a bell in her hand clanging it madly.*   IT’S HERE!  IT’S HERE!

·!¦[·      TWISTED HUNT FALL 2011 - UNSEELIE        ·]¦!·

I have had SOOOOOOOOO much fun with this theme you can’t even imagine.  I might have gone a little overboard but I had planned on doing this stuff for the most part anyhow.

The main prize is twisting and turning not too far from the landing point for you to find… I had to be a teeny bit devious, there’s a couple decoys.  *coughs* but I was nicer than some folks, least mine don’t tp you to different spots around the store!

The starting point of the hunt is if you want to go from the beginning:  http://slurl.com/secondlife/Lasombra/121/170/25

Over tucked along the flagstones there’s a small space where you will find a set of dark ruins where the Unseelie hold their court.  There are NINE gifts hidden amongst the rubble and grasses…. Seriously, I wasn’t planning on quite that much but then I couldn’t decide which ones to not use so you got them all.

|I{•——» TWISTED GACHA «——•}I|

The CUTEST little sit spot for foresty types or whoever, perfect for your garden and they’re in the gacha so each one is ONLY 15L, the BEST part?!  I made them transfer so you can collect, or trade them up as you get them if someone else is nearby who wants the color you have.  Each one has a different sit or fun pose to play with.  There’s 7 different colors

╚»╚»   They’re in the Twisted Skully Gacha Machine near the Twisted Easel at the landing point  «╝«╝

|I{•——» TWISTED SOUVENIR «——•}I|

I’ve been contemplating rotating out the souvenirs each week so there is a new one each week for the hunt, which would make 4…. so in that spirit here’s the first one.  Twisted Hunt folks will appreciate the fun in it.   It’s out for sale at the base of the easel at the landing point.

·!¦[·      LUCKY CHAIR UPDATES        ·]¦!·

It’s the first, which means I like to update this anyhow but also because of the start of the hunt it’s -perfect- timing.  I left the Faylinn outfit in there for now but added two other little accessories in honor of the color scheme and hunt theme.   There’s a pair of wings, and a new set of leggings.

Twisted Teasers

Freebies, Grid Hunts 1 Comment »

This week I’m not doing much of a big update… I’m really really busy.

You want to know one reason why I’m so busy?!  *nearly bounces out of her chair, tries to contain herself*  THE TWISTED HUNT IS COMING!!!  *breathes in through the nose then exhales slowly, grins*  I just simply ADORE this hunt, I have so much fun with it… and guess what?!  I’m one of the sponsors again.  Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee…….

Twisted Hunt starts on September 1st.  The theme this time is “Unseelie”, and I’m already having some fun with it.  I’m working on some awesome gifts, a mini hunt, sales, souvenirs the whole nine-yards…. I think I’m going to see about adding something to the end game too.  Over 300 vendors applied for it this time around though they have capped it at just over 200.  I was floored.  The organizers felt terrible having to turn away folks as it is but had to think of the hunters… more than that is just too big and too hard.

Anyhow!!!  I just can’t resist…. I wanted to give a lil twisted teaser for ya’ll.

·!¦[·      NEW GROUP GIFT        ·]¦!·

This past week I had a long time customer make a request.  It really isn’t anything that major but asked for an icebox type thing that matches the Manor House set in the kitchens area.  Eh, why not… I refuse though to call it a chilla or whatever it is.  *grins*  It’s an icebox!

Now this isn’t that big of an item really, an accessory really so I figured why not.  I’m going to give it to my groupies as a thanks for hanging in there with me.  So group members of the in world group “The Roawenwood” can come down and find it in the Kitchen/Bakery building.  Wear your group tag and click the box on the wall to receive it in a folder.

╚»╚»    It’s in the Kitchen & Baked goods building    «╝«╝

There is also the CoLab kit out for this round… it was a Southwest type theme, I end up reworking my one loom which really was a variant from the Navajo weaving looms anyhow.  It looks really good, very rustic in its own sense with some added accessories.  It is available right now for a limited time for 60L while the round is going.  It will run through this next Thursday I believe so if you want one you have to come get.  After that I will be adding it to the chores section at a normal type price.

That’s it for now.  Talk to you soon.

Scrubbing the Laundry

Chores & Work, CoLab Creator Kits, Contests, Landscaping & Prefabs No Comments »

This past week there was a major update to my laundry and chore line.  This was some of the very first things I had worked on all that time ago.  Scrubbing laundry, and hanging it out to dry.  They all needed some updating, and with the passage of time some of my thoughts on chores or role-play accessories of course have shifted.  Like the knitting and sewing sets I end up making some ‘packs’.  Where you get more than one option or some extra little accessories to add to the scene.  I have made them all copy/modify/no transfer.  I mean really… one thing I do know is that people have to make their money stretch a little bit more than they used to so I am trying to take that into account, if you spend your hard earned lindens then you should be able to enjoy them hmm?  This also alleviates some issues like loss of inventory since we all have had that at least once, and making up back ups or creating a larger scene.

The major part of this release is like a Gorean or Medieval Laundromat!!  It’s such a neat fun idea isn’t it?  A communal laundry.  *laughs* Ok, maybe not -the- most fun but I know that people do like to rp in groups, and this opens up a new thing for people to explore.  Can be a laundress, the cranky washerwoman… or just have a spot in the town where people can work together, gossiping and sharing the days news.  That was the idea anyhow.

The Washerwoman’s Laundry Shed; has washboards for three people to do their laundry in the basin and also includes accessories to go with… a couple of rugs, laundry baskets, a hidin spot, wadded up clothes and some seating crates.  The crates have 5 embedded animations for lounging or taking a break.  Since all of it is copiable you can change it around or make it how you want to look.  The shed breaks away from the mold a little bit from my other sheds being done mainly in stone, I wanted something a little different, this felt nice… solid and sort of homey in a way.

Now if you are looking at the display in world you’ll see a couple things tucked inside the shed.  Made up a new ironing table, and something new… folding clothes!  You know I really despise folding clothes in real life… Desperately so and I hesitated to add that kind of torture to Second Life but I figured someone might enjoy the rp.  So there’s that… buy the full set with the shed, folding clothes, and the ironing table in world for a discount.

The rest of the main release this week is the revamping of previously released laundry sets.  I redid the Hanging Laundry chores lowering the prim count, retexturing and shading the sets and making them copy/mod like the rest… the other big thing is I have combined the single clothesline and the double clothesline into one pack so you can pick or choose which one you want to use without spending a ton of extra money.  The double line has room for two to work, while the single is well…. singular.

There are two sets of Laundry Scrubbing sets.  The first is a revamp of the long time favorite and the other is a set that includes BOTH standing and kneeling laundry chores.  I think I did it this way because well, when I was building it it looked cool together… and I thought it would be another way to give you more bang for your buck.  Along with being able to have more options.  I think it works out.  I’ve added in some laundry baskets, rugs, that sort of thing to help add a bit more to it too.

I also revamped the kneeling ironing chore… This one is always a little tricky to get right for some reason but I think I did.  You know it’s funny… I totally am sitting here scratching my head wondering what the hell I was thinking.  I mean really, that’s an awful lot of laundry gear.  LOL!  But then again I suppose it works out, everyone has their own idea of how they want this sort of thing and hopefully I’ve been able to come up with a few options.  People like options.

As I phase out old chores either redoing them or just changing their permissions things will be replaced or retired.  So I don’t burn myself out on them I’ve been doing them in stages so far.

·!¦[·    JULY PICKS CONTEST WINNER!!    ·]¦!·

Hey guys I didn’t forget!!   The winner for the month of July is:  Fae Alter  CONGRATS!!

To play along and win a chance each month for 2000L and a 2000L store credit all you have to do is come down, click the lil sign… and put Roawenwood in your picks.  Leave it in there and then just wait.  At the end of each month a name is randomly chosen and then the list is wiped clean… starting all over again.

There are a lot of hunts and things going on along with the CoLab kit that I have out for the Tea Party theme.  CoLab kits are fun because you get a great deal on something because nothing is ever priced higher than 60L during the two week round they are a part of.

I’m going to cut this right about here because you know I can get too wordy… take care and talk soon.
